We had several of these installed in our covered porch. Immediately noticed that one would wobble but was told by our installer that 3 blade fans are at risk of doing this—fine. Bought the bond hub, that worked well and I was able to integrate it into the rest of my smart home system (home assistant). The remote has a nice function that allows you to synchronize all fans if they go out of sync — pretty neat. But they go out of sync often because all fans have to be in sight for the remote to work properly. Here is where my real problems begin. One the light went out on one of the units and I find out that I can’t just replace a bulb and would need to replace the whole unit—okay, another $380 down the drain plus install costs. Then one unit stops working so I brought an electrician back to take it apart to see what was wrong. Well the unit had a short or something — see photos. I’m happy my porch didn’t catch on future. I’m replacing all of my units with a different brand, can’t trust these fans unfortunately.

We purchased 5 fans (3 indoor and 2 outdoor), and love them once we got them working separately! We had them installed by an electrician, who had no problems. First, they are very quiet, but not SILENT. Mostly you just hear air movement. No wobble when using the 6” down rod that comes with them. Even though we have 10 ft. ceilings, our installer recommended using the 6” down rod to reduce wobble, and we agree. The light works great as well, and can be dimmed by holding down the remote or wall switch light button. We wanted to control them with both a wall switch and the remote (included), so we purchased the corresponding Minka Aire wall switches. If you are looking to purchase multiple fans for different rooms, it is important to note is that ALL the wall switches and remotes will control ALL fans by factory default, unless you change the frequencies. There are some important tricks: First and most important, the main power (blue light) on ALL wall switches in other rooms must be turned OFF except for the one you’re programming. You need to pry off the top cover of the wall switch to locate the tiny frequency switches and select a number (say #5). Toggle the 5th frequency switch, then hold the center button on the front of the wall switch down for 5 seconds until the fan light blinks on and off. Now the wall switch is programmed to operate only that fan. Next, remove the battery cover of the REMOTE to reveal the tiny frequency switches, which are ACTUALLY NUMBERED 1-8. (It looks like 2 sets of switches numbered 1-4, which is misleading. Once you realize they are actually 1-8, it solves a lot of problems). Flip the 5th frequency switch, then hold the center button on front of the REMOTE down for 5 seconds until the fan light blinks on and off. Now both the wall control switch and remote will operate only that fan. Lastly, make sure to turn the main power on the front of the wall switch OFF (blue light off), before moving on to program other fans in other rooms. We decided to operate the 2 outdoor (wet) fans by using just the remote. The fans come with a remote holder which you can install on the wall. So we installed the patio remote holder inside next to the patio light switch, and simply left the remotes on the factory default frequency setting so that they control both fans at once, which is what we wanted anyway. Once we figured it out, everything works perfectly, and we are very pleased with our purchase.

Up in the air about this one! Will see….We had builders grade fans in our home and went through and replaced them all during our remodel with these! We now have 4. 2 of which we are still waiting to install. We’ve had some issues with one already though, hence the lower star rating. Upon installation the problem fan seemed to work fine, however after a few days the light just refused to turn on. Upon inspection we noticed one of the LEDs looked burned. As we really needed the light in that room we replaced the light kit with a kit from one of the other fans. It appeared to work fine. I called Minka and they happily agreed to send me a new light kit. They were surprised the light burned out. Sadly the kit was on backirder and it would be several weeks before I received a new one. The very next day the light kit we put in from the other fan also burned out. Called Minka again and they told me the receiver was killing the lights and agreed to send me another light kit (now 2) and a new receiver. We got the receiver and are waiting on the light kit to see if we’ve solved our problem. Fingers crossed. The other installed fan is working great. So now to the pros and cons.Pros:1. Looks great! Very stylish fan. Simple and elegant. Fits well with the transitional style of our home.2. Moves Air! Functions great as a fan, easy to change fan direction and speed.3. Sturdy Remote! Remote isn’t flimsy which considering that’s how it’s controlled is important. We have on larger fan that we’ve had issues with the remote so I’m happy this one is beefy.4. Easy install. Piece of cake to install. Technically doesn’t need a switch which we are finding awesome because frees up the switch for future lighting endevours.5. Minka Customer Service!!!! They have handled our issue with the fan exceptionally well.Cons:1. Finish on the downrod is delicate. We ended up with a couple scratches sliding the covers up and down on the rod. Can’t see them from ground unless you know where to look so not a huge issue2. Receiver/Lights issue! Hopefully we will find this is resolved when we get our new light kit, but for now it’s still an issue.3. Light Brightness. These give off a decent amount of light but I’d like to see more. Without the globe on the room is crazy bright but with it on it’s far less, perhaps a globe that diffused the light less would be better? This is barely a con though as it still supplies an ok amount of light.

I wasn’t too keen on the initial looks of this fan when I viewed it online, but ordered it anyway because it was “wet rated”. It ended up looking phenomenal once it was installed – very clean and simple, yet stylish. I also ordered a 24” down rod (it was installed on a 14ft ceiling) and am very satisfied with its height. Puts off perfect amount of light (Not too dull or bright) and fan blades give off a great amount of air. It was hardwired on a switch on our wall, but didn’t work, I had to order the handheld remote for it to work. The remote was super easy to pair (held “stop” button, light turned off and on twice and done)! Overall, I am very pleased with this fan and would highly recommend for an outdoor space!
