This is a very nice fan but I’ve tried two light kits that dont fit, the mount on the fan is maybe 1/8″ too small. I did call hinkley asking what other brands fit the fan and the person who answered didnt know. I wouldnt buy a Hinkley fan unless I was also buying a Hinkley light kit. Hinkley sells nice light kits but I didnt see one i wanted and the prices are much higher than what I can find locally. The ad should probably read “only accepts hinkley light kits”I’ve installed several fans from other manufacturers and have never had this problem. If its a tactic to make the consumer buy their lights it didnt work this time and I wont buy Hinkley again

This took me a little bit to install (even though I was just replacing an old one). This was mostly due to the lack of extra screws and spending about 2 hours finding a single lost screw. That is the one and only complaint that I have about this item.It comes with weights to stabilize it if you need to, but I didn’t need to. It ran acceptably level as soon as everything was put into place. Very nice. Now, the old ceiling fan it replaced was larger, but it was a much older model. This smaller fan puts out 4 times the air that thing ever did and sure it runs more quietly. On it’s maximum setting it feels like an amazing and steady breeze; it is exceptionally refreshing. You can hear an ever so slight hum when it runs, but only if you are listening for it. A feint and quiet speaking voice would drown the sound of this fan out easily.Now, I installed this inside so I cannot attest to its outside use, but I could imagine this thing being amazing on a front porch on a hot summer day, and I may just get another one just for that purpose.The look of it is pretty nice too. I’m a huge fan of stained grey and I like this so much better than the walnut/brass look of the old fan. Of course, you wont really see the stain of the blades when its moving, but on a day when you don’t want the fan on it really adds a great touch to the room. This goes especially if you’re going for a darker hue. That’s me, black curtains, furniture, and grey whatever else I can get.All in all I am very satisfied with this item and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a ceiling fan but doesn’t need a light attached to it.
