   I ended up buying 4 of these ceiling fans. After I first installed all 4 fans and connected them all to the phone app, within 24 hours 2 of the fans disconnected. After resetting and reconnecting these fans manually, I have had no issues over the past couple weeks with any disconnects. All fans work fine without any issues.I took away 2 stars because the app limits you to using Amazon or Google for home automations, even though there is an app, it has a wifi chip in it, there is NO API or webpage to control the fans. There is no way to connect these fans to Home Assistant, if there was ANY way I would rate this 5 stars because everything else is great. I will update review if I find an easy solution to this.When researching this fan, I found that it’s a rebrand of the Carro Espear fan, specifically VS525J-L12-BG-1 which is significantly more expensive.UPDATE:Seller reached out but was not able to provide help.I found that although all of the instructions say to use the Carro app, it seems to be an exact copy of the Smart Things app. All 4 of my fans were able to connect to the Smart Things app without any issues with full functionality. The Smart Things app can easily be connected to a Tuya account which can then be linked to any custom smart home environment. I am able to control all 4 fans with home assistant.I am adding a star back because this greatly increases the functionality of the fans. I would rate this 5 stars if there was any documentation about this.Update 2:One of the fans will no longer connect to the app or go into pairing mode.I found that there is an open source project for local Tuya controls. This can be added to home assistant. Attributes need to be created and assigned manually but after the quite long manual setup, I am able to control the fans locally. This makes controlling the fans from my phone have no delay and has given the ability to control the fans in automations. I am still giving 4/5 stars despite 1/4 of my units dying because this fan is much cheaper than the alternatives with a solution for local control.

   I don’t like that when you turn the fan on it’s not set the way you left it last. There are so many settings warm light, cool light, fast fan, slow fan. It would be nice if you didn’t have to select everything every time you turn it on. We bought two of these for the porch, thus two remotes and it’s too much trouble to get both fans doing the same thing so we just turn them on or off, not using the various settings. There is a delay when you turn them off and on, unlike an AC fan. This fan works well but it doesn’t seem to move a whole bunch of air unless you’re right under it. They are easy to install and they are very quiet.

   First of all, I LOVE this fan; it looks elegant, is completely silent, and is relatively easy to install. The only thing I’d complain about is that Alexa gets confused when I want to turn on the fan, only the light, or both. Another odd thing is that if I lose power, once it’s back, the light turns on itself, and remains on until someone notices and turns it off (only the light, not the fan). Anyway, if you’re thinking to get a smart fan, just get this one.

   Looks great and no more difficult than a big box fan to install. Great air flow. Nice lighting where you can combine a yellow and a white led array in any mixture to get the desired level and color temperature.Issues:The remote is cheap and didn’t work consistently. Uses 2 AAA batteries which were NOT provided. I called Carro and they were very nice and sent a replacement remote in 4 days! Same cheap remote but at least it worked. If you use Alexa or the Carro app, fortunately you will only need the remote for the setup.As for Alexa, I now have it working perfectly but that took a lot of trial and error. To pair with your router, the router must ONLY be in 2.4ghz mode which requires router configuration changes to temporarily shut off 5Ghz. What a pain. If you are not IT savvy, this might be a deal breaker for you. Once you finally get it paired in 2.4ghz mode, you can switch 5ghz back on in your router. Carro needs to update their fans to not require this.Once you get Alexa working the fan is a marvel. “Alexa, ceiling fan on 1″ or 5 or 10 for max speed or OFF. ” Alexa, yellow light 50%”, etc.

   I love this fan! I got it on n sale around Black Friday (paid $129) and it was worth it. Personally I wouldn’t spend the retail price, but that doesn’t pertain to this particular product as I wouldn’t spend such on a ceiling fan anyhow. It does sit a little low, but we have a slab, ranch-style home in a plat. For us it’s no issue, but for someone in a similar home who is tall(er) may have more complaints. Just some notes! I love it thought and have had many compliments from guests.
