The ceiling fan looks alright. The blades are some sort of plastic or composite material. It looks modern, but I’m not a huge fan of the light kit. Although my house is decorated modern style, it seems a little out of place but I’m keeping it since it does have good downward draft for my loft workout room. The fan comes with dimmable bulbs, but I opted to use the ambiance lights from Philips hue for additional Alexa integration (and because I hate soft white bulbs). One thing that irked me about the installation of the fan… as delivered, it is not compatible with angled ceilings. And it’s not a complete ceiling hugger. There is an included downrod of about 3″. So if you have vaulted ceilings like I do, expect to go to the hardware store to pick up a downrod or order it online before you install. It wasn’t expensive, it was just unexpected. For the most part, the installation was easy except that the housing wanted to spin when I was installing the blades and light kit. The blades are shiny black, so as to not fingerprint it up, I kept the protective shipping sleeve on it until my install was done. I’m not sure if that was helpful or a hindrance as it kept the blades print free but made already slippery blades even more slippery when installing. It took me about 45 minutes to install the fan by myself; most of it was because the fan blade housing kept spinning away from me while putting on the blades and I had difficulties getting the screws to align due to ladder placement…and my arms falling asleep. I think this would have been a great deal easier had I installed the blades on the floor before hanging it, although it may have been cumbersome to get up the ladder assembled like that. The included remote worked straight out of the box; no pairing needed. The Alexa integration… that took me several hours. The app requires way too many permissions for what it is. That part kind of torques me off. I was about to give up and call Hunter, but decided to do a little bit of web research. I’ll save you some time and hopefully some sanity. After hanging the light:1) Download the Hunter App from your phone’s app store (Android it is Hunter Simple Connect WIFI; there are two hunter apps and the one with the cursive writing on the icon is the one you want)2) Launch the app and create a login. You will get an email from Ayla to verify your account. It didn’t work for me to click the account verification link from my computer, I had to do it from my phone.3) Be sure that your phone and the fan are on the same 2.4Ghz network. 5Ghz won’t work. When you try to connect to the fan you will need to scan the barcode on the inside of the battery cover of the remote. The code is tiny and hard to scan. I had to type in the confirmation code and my WPA password (seriously probably 20 times or more, I was getting a message that 192.168.10.1 was refusing the connection)… if it doesn’t connect on the first try, then flip on/off the light switch the fan is attached to, press the reset switch under the battery cover of the remote, and try again. Be sure to wait for the full time when the app prompts you to. I got impatient thinking it wouldn’t connect and was checking my router settings while it was churning and the app closed the process but was still open. Go through the app and change your fan name to what makes sense to you, and create any room(s) if applicable… test whether the app soft buttons actually work on your fan.4) Download the Hunter – SimpleConnect Smart Ceiling fan skill in the Alexa App. It will require you to link to the Ayla/Hunter login you created in the second step, then scan for the devices. This step is like any other smarthome/alexa integration where you can create an alexa group, routine, etc.The functions in the Hunter App and Hunter Skill in Alexa are very limited, which was a bit of a disappointment.Oh and if the beeping noise bugs you on the remote, check the hunter app’s settings. In there you can change the fan direction and the beep noise.Pros:Great downward draft, I think the best in my houseQuietLooks good if you’re into a modern lookPhysical remote worked straight out of the boxIncluded battery for the remoteIncluded dimmable light bulbs (a pro or a con)Installation was fairly easyCons:Included downrod is not compatible with vaulted ceilings.Lack of instructions on installing the Hunter App and Alexa Integration (both are poor processes!)Included bulbs are soft white dimmable, I like bright white as it makes me feel energized when working out.The light kit is frosted so it mutes your bulbs. I believe the light kit can be replaced but I’m not sure on that.Didn’t include beer for successful app install celebration.

Hunter has another great fan…..works great and easy to install. However, the instructions were poor! If I hadn’t done many installations in the past, I would have been lost. Come on Hunter, you are better than this.

Love the fan, easy to assemble, and install, and runs quietly. High quality!

Do NOT believe the website saying that this fan is compatible with Alexa, IT IS NOT. It’s a nice fan, but I bought it specifically for the Alexa compatibility in order to tie it into my smart home system. I was able to put in smart bulbs so I can at least control the lights, but the fan is strictly manual control. VERY disappointed!!

Nice fan. Quiet. No wobbling. Also bought Hunter builder 42 in. Wobbles like crazy

As advertised, on time. After installation, directions could be clearer, had a motor hum that quieted over a few days and now is whisper quiet. Perfect effect for me on low, 44 in. fan in 10′ X 15′ room.

I have barely gotten into getting this installed and right out of the box there is no downrod. If I had wanted a flush mount I would have ordered one. Off to a bad start. I will update later.ETA: we finally got the lighted fan installed no thanks to the hot mess Hunter calls instructions. Overall I am very pleased. The 3 speeds all work appropriately and it’s very quiet. The lights really put out a lot of bright light which was sadly lacking with the prior ceiling fixture. I am still very unhappy there was no down rod included with my fixture. I went through all the packing several times and it simply was never included. I read other reviews of missing parts so quality control is sadly lacking with this company. I have changed my rating from 1 star, due to missing parts and dismal instructions to 4 stars for overall happiness with my ceiling fan.
