I have a 10 year old MinkaAire fan I am comparing this too. The Minka-Aire F844-WH fan does not move as much air as my old fan. Basically my old fan on medium is the equivalent to the Minka-Aire F844-WH on high. The Minka-Aire F844-WH is generates more wind noise than my old fan. The motor is quiet, but the angle of just 3 blades causes more noise.I will keep the Minka-Aire F844-WH because it’s just a hassle to remove and replace with another model. I also don’t use my old fan on high so this moves enough air for me at night. But the light is VERY bright. A big plus!

My handyman installed it without difficulty. It looks great (installed with shortest rod), works well (installed about a month ago), and is quiet. Love everything about it.

My interior designer chose this fan for our family room. We really like it. It gives gives plenty of air, is sleek looking and doesn’t stand out. Our ceilings and walls are white and that’s what we were going for. We have had this fan for just shy of a year now and always wondered why the remote control seemed like it had a dim the light option but never found it to work that way. I finally emailed the company ( they have great customer service by the way!) and felt compelled to come back and leave q review along with their response in hopes of helping others. Here is why that they said, “ The light dims in range by pressing and holding down the same button to turn on/off the light to see if it brightens or dims to your liking. Thank you kindly.”Alas! The lights do dim!!You won’t be disappointed in this fan. Should you have any issues, email them with a copy of your receipt ( so they know what you purchased) at [email protected]

Looks good, works well except that the light is painfully bright. You must really think over the steps to assemble this as the instructions are poorly translated. The remote control receiver barely fits the slot where it is installed, and watch which way the wires run, to make connections easier.

This is a story of a man named Brady….. Oh, yeah…. This is about the Minka-Aire 844. It is a story nonetheless and a review I wished I would have read and whether you choose to purchase or not, could save you a fair amount of frustration. The net of the story, we bought three fans and had to use two of the fans (boxes) to salvage enough parts to get one WORKING fan. If you need more and are interested in my mental pain and suffering, read on. I am sure you will find it amusing, at my expense of course. We ordered 3 fans. 3 separate rooms. We started by replacing the fan in my office. The directions are adequate and really, if you have hung fans before it is not that difficult. Usually a 30-40 minute job (provided you don’t need to add bracing) and you hit the switch and the glorious breeze and lighting kicks in. In our case, this was the expectation…. But, in our story, we hit the switch, the breaker popped and everything in my office shutdown (I should also mention in that process my computer shut down dirty and I need to reinstall the OS at a minimum). Bad cabling job you say? Rubbish, everything was in order and perfect as a warm and breezy night watching the sunset over the ocean. Hmmmm.. could it be the wiring or an old circuit breaker? Nah, this house is only 3 years old and the last CHEAP fan and light worked. Hmmmm.. There are 3 possibilities here. Wiring, faulty transmitter, short in the motor. Well. We bought three, lets start salvaging parts. Replaced the transmitter with the new transmitter from the second box.. Popped the circuit. OK, lets move on to the motor. How ‘bouts putting that second fan together? We already opened the box, right? Seat the new fan, wire in its transmitter and….. Light. Houston. We have light. But, the remote doesn’t work? Can’t be. Reading every google on the topic and finally giving in to calling support, they mentioned direct cabling the beast. Of course you wouldn’t be able to control fan speed or the lights, but it would rule out the transmitter. Well. I am too smart for that. I took the transmitter out of the box that shipped with the motor that had a short in it and wired that in. Hit the light switch and the skies parted with a beautiful rainbow washing away the storm that just swept through my office.Yep. Of the two boxes (fan kits) we opened, one contained a motor with a short and the other contained a faulty transmitter. That is several hours of my life I won’t get back and thankfully I didn’t call an electrician and pay their rate to tell me the same.Buy with caution. We are sending the 3rd box back that we purchased as well as the second box full with the faulty transmitter and the motor with a short. What about the one that I cobbled together to install? Why would I keep it? Well, this is the second fan bracket that has been drilled into these studs. I think it better to roll the dice, than to drill in a third.Net. If you decide to buy and go forward, please kindly remember this review to save yourself the frustration and maybe my abbreviated troubleshooting tips will help you.Quick update. The single fan that we kept does have a nice bright light and is quiet. It also produces an excellent amount of breeze, even on the lowest setting. I still will not change my rating due to the horrible QA that caused two separate boxes (fans) to both have faulty parts. Sad.

We purchased three of these fans for the bedrooms of our new house. These work really well and put off a nice amount of air. Happy with our purchases.
