My 20+year-old ceiling fan bit the dust just before summer. Actually, the remote control transmitter died. On newer fans, that would have only required simply swapping in a new remote transmitter and receiver for ~$20 (or $30 if you want to upgrade to a wifi-controllable unit). No taking down the fan; just quick rewiring. Unfortunately, my fan had the transmitter built into the fan and a replacement unit was $70 plus it would have required taking the fan down and disassembling the motor housing to repair. For that old of a fan and the time required, it wasn’t worth fixing it.Because I am picky not only on the aesthetics but on proper airflow (CFM rating–NEVER buy a fan that you actually want to keep you cool with less than 4k CFM), I looked long and hard to find something to fit all of my requirements. I also wanted something that I could control with wifi. I was about to buy a Westinghouse fan and pair it with a Treatlife wifi fan/light dimmer wall switch. It was priced at $200. Went to pull the trigger on it and the price had jumped by $80! Paired with the $40 wifi controller, I was now over $300 for a new fan. The Westinghouse is a beautiful fan but frugal me thought I could surely do better.Out of all of my searches, I had never come across this fan. It must have been meant to be because that same day this Emerson fan popped up in my searches. I did not even know Emerson still made fans (more on that below) but I knew of their quality from my since-passed grandfather who said the only ceiling fans to consider buying were Hunter or Emerson (although with corporate mergers and off-shore manufacturing, that probably doesn’t hold true as much anymore).Ideally, I would have rather had the dark metal finish version with the light-colored blades but that was not an option. If I wanted the light wood (almost cherry) blades, I would have to go with the brushed steel. That would be my only complaint but not enough to knock stars off my rating. In fact, now that it is up, I actually may be glad I got the brushed steel. The metal looks darker 10 feet up at ceiling level and is just beautiful! So many compliments.I haven’t installed the wifi fan controller yet but the fan works great. At times the highest speed is too high, especially if you have loose papers laying around. Certainly high enough that with wood floors, I can just turn it on high for 10 minutes and all the dust bunnies from dog and cat hair will push to the baseboard for easy vacuuming with the hose end of the vacuum! Ha!Please note: this fan does NOT come with a light. There is a light kit available but for my purposes, with plenty of other lights in the room and the fact that I so rarely used the light on the old fan that the bulb never needed to be replaced in 20+ years of service, it was not needed. But if you need it, you can add a light kit. The bonus on that is that the fan-only wifi switch is a few dollars cheaper than the one that controls both fan and light. One other thing of note, Emerson seems officially out of the fan business. Their fans are now being sold under the Luminance-Kathy Ireland Home collection of products. It is still the same product, just rebranded. I don’t know if these are just remaining stock or what, but the EXACT SAME FAN can be bought under the Luminance-Kathy Ireland brand but for ~$100 more. So I would suggest getting this fan while they are still available. I am pleased with my purchase at $140 and now they are down to $116. Great looking, well made, and lots of airflow in a 20’x30′ living area.

This color was discontinued and we purchased it on close out. The fan was perfect for what we were looking for, the only weird thing is the wall control seems backwards, where the first position from off is the highest speed when it feels like it should be the lowest speed, a minor issue but seems counterintuitive.

All I can say, it was worth the money and looks amazing in my bedroom…

This fan is perfect!! Love the color, and it has a speed control switch that goes on the light switch that works great!! This product was priced fair and was worth it!!
