Disclaimer: I bought this item with my own money so expect a real review.Generally a high quality 60-in fan. The brushed steel looks great. The metal was top quality.Has a few problems. Problem 1 is the speeds. Has 3-speed pull chain to change speed. High completely cools a large room with little noise. This is comparable to medium my other 52-inch fans. I was surprised a 60-inch fan did not go higher. Medium was comparable to low on a normal 52-inch fan. Barely feel any breeze. The low setting is a joke. No wind at all. See my attached video to see.UPDATE: In video fan was switched to reverse (up) direction. In forward rotation I get better breeze. Sorry for error.Problem 2 is the fan blade attachment. The wood blades have four screws to attach to metal vane hub, I really cranked them tight but once fan was installed I found several were loose. I tightened them again. Later again. Seems the wood deforms and they need re-tightening. This is poor engineering. Too much play in alignment. They need a rubberized gasket here to provide better wood attachment/alignment (like other brands do). You need to completely assemble fan before mounting so harder to mount than other brands.Problem 3. Balance. The fan was way out of balance and wobbled badly. Took me an hour and all three weights from the supplied balancing kit to fix. Still was not perfect.Problem 4. Noise. There was a scraping noise. I will try to attach video here I took so you can here the noise. It comes and goes seems to be getting better.UPDATE: Noise was caused by wire bundle scraping inside motor. Pull down wire bundle from motor to fix. Now is silent.Problem 5. Non-standard downrod. Emerson has 0.84″ diameter rod and everyone else uses 1″. You can only use Emerson rods and they are not available at the home improvement stores.Problem #6. Does not come with SW46 wall speed controller as the Amazon description says. To be fair that is an Amazon error and not Emerson’s.

This is an attractive fan which you can further customize with a variety of light kits if desired. The size of the fan is just right for the big open space where we mounted it. The oil-rubbed bronze finish matches our other oil-rubbed bronze finishes perfectly. We chose to install the fan with this light kit:
Emerson Ceiling Fan Light Fixtures LK40ORB Boardwalk Cage Ceiling Fan Light Kits, Medium Base CFL Light Kit, Oil Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Lamp
. We had no trouble with the light kit and it looks great.Installation is a little complex, and took around a little over an hour to complete. There are quite a few steps and some of them require you to look at the instructions a few times to really understand how they’re supposed to be done. There are two particularly tricky parts; the first was the removal of the retaining plate that stops the motor from being able to move during shipping. You are supposed to be able to take it off easily by turning it, but the screws are very hard to get to and the body doesn’t actually twist like it says you can in the instructions. The second difficult piece to the installation is the mounting of the fan blades to the motor body. They have to be arranged very carefully and evenly in a fashion that locks them together as you screw them down, and if not done perfectly the fan will wobble and you have to take it apart and reassemble. There is an extra pamphlet addendum to the instructions included in the box, which has the correct things to look for to be sure that the fan is properly balanced, but it’s not included in the actual instruction steps. The fan works well and we have no complaints. There are cheaper and easier to install fans on the market, but there is no denying the quality here.

Fan is fine, no major issues, but is not worth the extra money in my opinion. It doesn’t look like a fan that costs over 300 dollars, and I think I could have done a lot better with a 70-100 dollar fan from Hunter or Westinghouse. This is important – getting an extension rod to lower the fan from the ceiling is difficult. There are none on Amazon that I have found that fit this model. When calling Emerson, they quoted me a price around 50 dollars (my recollection, it was not lower than 40 and may have been closer to 60) to get an extension rod. After paying 319 dollars for the unit, I felt like this was unreasonable. I bought some PVC piping and rigged an extension, and I get a little wobble but nothing noticeable. Not returning it (it is already set up) but I am not happy with the purchase overall.

This product turned out to used and repacked. It was scratched and totally misrepresented as new. It was clearly a warranty return. Having said that, it works well and does it’s job beautifully.
