–1 year reflection–Having had the fan for a little over a year now my experience overall has been positive. I had an issue for a while where the fan would reverse direction on its own for some reason and I wouldn’t notice until I started wondering why I couldn’t feel any air. A firmware update seems to have resolved that. Speaking of firmware updates, these are app driven and you have to manually check from time to time. The app will also periodically log you out so open it to check from time to time. I had one instance where the fan became completely unresponsive to the app and also remote which required pulling the “airgap” reset pin on the wall controller to hard reset the fan. Like I said in the review, minor nuances, these shouldn’t dissuade you from buying this fan, just know there will be some weirdness to work through sometimes. Such is life in the Smart Things age…–Original Review –Already a Lutron Caseta user, I set out to find a flush mount “hugger” low profile fan in 52″ to maximize overhead space. I quickly realized 2 things: nearly all options are smart or have integrated wireless controls which adds cost to the fan and if I wanted to continue using my Caseta switch I would need a fan with pull chains. I looked at many brands, read the few reviews that were available and then read through installation guides of any hopeful contenders. Some of the other brands I considered were Minka Aire and Fanimation. Modern Forms, which is a sub brand under WAC Lighting, seems to have a small but loyal following and offers true smart device integration. This means Alexa, google home or smart things integration for most people.Installation is relatively straight forward but there are more wires here for sure then any fan I’ve installed prior. It would have been nice if they pre-wired and secured the receiver to the fan motor from the factory. Then there would be only 3 wires to connect to the ceiling box. The installation guide is pretty bad with vague references/ drawings and mentions of parts that don’t exist. They give you several individual packages of screws but you’re completely on your own to figure out where to use which. I was also missing the screws needed to secure the light and thought I was also missing the canopy cover screws, but found some that worked. They only mention their optional Bluetooth wall plate so if you have a standard power toggle switch, it will need to be switched ON to supply power or you can manually tie the wires in your wall box to supply continuous power. The provided remote is already paired to the receiver and has a slight delay between button presses to fan actions. It also makes an audible beep when the fan functions are used, I don’t like this at all as it cheapens the experience a bit in my view. The light functions silently thankfully. If you don’t want the smart integration you could stop here, but if you do, install the modern forms app FIRST! The fan’s receiver is both Bluetooth and WIFI-capable and must connect to your home network for automation integration. The app will help complete this step for you, after you’ve created a modern forms account or linked your google/facebook account, of course. I never did receive a confirmation email from these people, so the only purpose of this account is to tie their service to Google. Once the receiver is on your network with your account linked to the automation service of your choice, you can then use google home, alexa etc and that part works fine. The verbal commands for this fan are done in levels, so you would say “turn on office fan level 2”, for example. The breeze function looks interesting on paper but in practice I found it annoying. A fan that randomly shifts speeds and patterns is incredibly distracting. The finished design of the thing in action is elegant, I must say, and with only 3 blades it produces a good amount of air with only a slight bit of turbulence noise at the outer edges of the blades. This fan uses a DC motor which is more efficient than the traditional AC variants. The light, while fully dimmable, I find to be slightly too dim at night. During the day with the blinds open it’s fine. So, overall a nice fan once you get through the setup nuances. I still would have preferred to use my Caseta switch instead of their smart system, but it’s fine, it works.Pros:-Excellent flush fan clearance from ceiling to bottom of light-More efficient DC fan motor-Visually pleasing with what seems to be good quality components-Smart integration with the most popular options (Google, Alexa, Ecobee…)-Relatively quiet operation with good wind outputCons:-Pricey, but most are in this space-Installation guide needs work for sure-The smart setup sequence of events is important (modern forms app FIRST, then google/ alexa integration)-Bluetooth remote actions are slightly delayed after button presses-Fan controls BEEP when activated-Light is too dim at max brightness-No 3rd party smart switch integration (Lutron etc)-Also, if you buy a wall plate be sure it is the BLUETOOTH version, not RF! RF is the version sold here on Amazon and will NOT work with this fan. (This is what you want: part#: F-WCBT-WT)

I am writing this while everything is fresh in my mind. The fan is wonderful, and silent (yay!). We just installed it today, so I will definitely update if it does not live long. I will not be using wifi, so I won’t comment about that. The remote worked right out of the box, and the beep for each button press is so minimal it is hardly worth mentioning. I got the 2700k light as we don’t need much over our bed, and it is perfect for us. Very soft light, and has three different brightness levels. Now here is the bad part. The installation booklet is worthless, and installation is a PITA! One of the beginning steps is to install the blades. DON’T. We saved this step for just before installing the light. Can’t imagine how awful it would be to do this with the blades on. There were missing wires, additional screws, and DH was going crazy trying to figure out the schematic until he figured out that said wires were not there. Then we were trying to figure out the screw situation, because it is not clear which ones are to be used. Nothing is labeled. And we ended up with a bag of screws that went to…nothing. We are not stupid people, and we have installed enough from China lately to know that things are definitely lost in translation. We both think Ikea instructions are much better, and they ain’t great. All this is to say to be prepared if you are installing it yourself.I need to be upfront that I purchased this from another store. I had to return the first one I ordered from Amazon as they gave me a returned one as new, and I did not want to risk doing that again. I just really wanted to give an honest review of the fan and the installation. I really like how the fan looks, and don’t let the installation woes scare you away from a very modern, sleek, and very quiet fan.

As an engineer and an electrician, I was impressed by its great design. The assembly was straight forward. I mounted it above our bed to provide airflow in the warm evenings of summer. There is no sound to the fan other than the sound of moving air at high velocity. It’s six speeds provides more than enough air for our focused needs. We set it for moderate speed and experience no motor or air noise. If looking for whole room air circulation, its smaller 44” blade width will likely fall short. Reasonably attractive, highly functional for our application. As this is a smart fan unit, one can control it with phone, etc but why complicate it. Remote provides sufficient control. We have used this unit for several weeks now and I highly recommend it. To keep remote handy, I replaced two gang switch plate with two openings and a plank space. This allowed me to mount the remote on the blank portion of the plate so it’s handy and I always know where it is. The recent substantial price increase may make other units more economically viable and desirable.

Easy to install and connect to Wi-Fi. The App is actually better than I expected. Fan has 6 speeds and the light light is dimmable 0-100%.

First, I’m very handy and have installed about 10 fans for myself, family & friends so I have experience. In the end, this fan works very well and is quiet. It was a little more difficult to install than others but not terrible. Directions were fine. Be aware that this is a flush mounted unit and I installed in in a bedroom with 8′ ceilings so it was great and perfect for the room. If you have high ceilings it may not be the best choice as you would want a down rod. All in all, very happy with purchase.

The fan part is great but the light is not enough for my sewing room
