Such a nice, quiet fan and light combo, but it doesn’t come with a remote or the receiver you need to use the remote. You have to buy them separately ($70 total). The receiver I ordered was defective, and since I waited too long to install it, I had to take the loss… My bad, but I don’t want to reorder the receiver because of all of the reviews from people who experienced the same thing.Bottom line, if you don’t mind not having a remote, this really is a nice quiet fan/light. No buzzing or humming.

Had to order a new wall switch after the first day

First of all, this fan is beautiful – looks expensive (I guess it kind of is) and solid. (Sorry – photos are not great!) The blade color is what we were hoping for, and the size and scale are perfect. We had someone install it so I can’t speak to the installation – he said that it was not difficult. It comes with a control panel (not a standalone remote) that installs where your light switch would normally be – in our cases there were two rocker switches together on the wall – one intended for the light, the other for the fan. He replaced the fan side with the fan’s remote, and left the other for the light. The only complaints/issues we have with it is the beeping sound that emits any time you press a button on the remote – when you change speeds or adjust the brightness of the light, it beeps loudly each time. Evidently there is nothing you can do about this. The other issue, although this may be a wiring issue, is that the remote seems like it goes to sleep, so if I walk into the room and want to increase fan speed, let’s say, I can’t just hit the fan up button – I may have to hit the power button twice (off, on) to get it to recognize my command. And even then I may have to switch my second switch to get it to respond. This may be an issue with having the second light switch, but I don’t know unless we have someone look at the wiring again. All that said, this is the best looking fan we’ve seen, so we will probably buy another for our living room.

The ceiling fan is esthetically pleasing, however the praises stop here. I would have given this product a 5 had it actually come with a remote . When i read the description ‘wall remote’ I assumed it was much like my other fan where the remote sat in a wall bracket and I could remove it and control the unit from anywhere. The description is rather misleading due to the remote not being movable. It is actually a light switch with controls on it. This is much cumbersome, as from the bed if I want to turn the light off I have to get up. That’s ridiculous for a 300$ fan. Additionally the beeping every time you change the controls on the switch is loud and most irritating. This is a serious design flaw…Furthermore, the wiring diagram for the light switch was not included in the instructions, making the installation more difficult.Last but not least, the washers that come with the screws that hold the blades in place should not be of metal material because if you decide to reverse the blade to change the color you may end up having the imprint of the washer indented into the wood blade. Should have been rubber or felt.FYI the LED light is a unit versus a replaceable light bulb.

I bought a Fanimation fan and this almost at the same time. The Fanimation was a little more tricky to install but its a clearly superior fan. It’s balanced from the factory, the Casablanca wobbles a little at high speed, the control is cumbersome and somewhat hard to use versus the Fanimation, which was also about $30 cheaper.

Its a nice fan but I would like a better light. Too subdued

First Casablanca fan purchase and will be our last. I like the fan itself but the box was missing a part which we did not realize until the end of installation since it was basically next to last item we needed. Since we didn’t get time to install the fan until 30 days had passed, we cannot return (not that we really wanted to since it’s 99% installed). I have called Casablanca’s customer support number repeatedly and either sit on hold for 30-45 minutes before giving up and hanging up or I have left my number in the “queue” for a return phone call which I never received. I then sent them two emails and have yet to receive a response to either email. Absolutely ridiculous.
