All these new fans have same issues with remote and wifi assistant. Expect to spend time figuring out your house wiring and in some cases what to do with the extra wall switches this fan doesn’t use.

TLDR: Great looks, horrible remote and switch that need resyncing with the fan on a regular basisI love the looks of this fan, looks great with any décor. Unfortunately I have regular problems with the remote and switch loosing synchronization with the fan. Since both the switch and the remote always fail together I have to assume it’s the fan controller that is at fault here. I also have a Modern Forms Wynd 52″ in another room which I rarely have to resync so this one may just be a lemon but for the price one should not have to risk having these problems. If Modern Forms would respond to support questions it might help but they have not done so for me. I should note, that when the fan looses sync, it means I have to go pull the power from my other fan when I reset the failed fan. This is so that both fans do not get synced with the same switches and remotes, so resyncing is a bit of a song and a dance. On occasion I have had the Axis loose sync twice in one week though typically it can be months between problems. I have also had both fans loose sync at the same time, that may have been due to a firmware update.I’m also no fan (pun not intended) of the buttons on the remote and the switch. They are too small and the on / off button does not respond on the 1st press ~50% of the time. This is true for both fans. I bought Blue Tooth switches for both fans, having it available was one of the attractions to this line of fans. It is reviewed here:https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R264DK7THTZF89/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B084T3W8X2In addition to the remote and light switch being problematic the light on my Axis will not dim completely. At the lowest setting I can still see a faint glow. Again this isn’t a problem with my second fan. Again, Modern Forms support has been no help.So buyer be warned; the problems I describe here are livable and and it’s hard to get these looks in any other fan so I continue to live with them, but you shouldn’t have problems of this nature in the 1st place. You might get lucky and everything will always work fine, but you will still occasionally curse the switch and the remote.

I’ve waited four months to write this review in order to have enough time for any issues to arise. Happy to say this is absolutely the BEST FAN EVER! It’s absolutely silent, has several speeds that range from barely moving to tornado status. At the highest speed the only thing you can hear in the air moving – the fan itself is completely silent. The aesthetic is perfection and really transformed my living room, as the previous ‘traditional’ style fan stuck out like a sore thumb against my modern decor. As for installation, I had my regular handyman do it — I warned him the reviews said it was complicated. He took the old fan down and had this one installed in about 30 minutes and said there wasn’t anything especially challenging about it. I recommend avoiding the frustration of a self-installation and have someone do it who installs them on a regular basis (shouldn’t cost more than $50-$75).A+++

I bought the Axis fan from Modern Forms, because I had previously purchased the 5 blade Wynd fan from the same company, and really liked it, but wanted the more modern appearance of the 3 blade Axis. What I didn’t realize, was that the light kit on the Axis is different from that on the Wynd — the Axis light, although rated the same lumens, is smaller in diameter, and has a frosted cover, that seems to let less light out, than the clear acrylic cover on the larger diameter Wynd light. The Wynd appears far brighter, and really lights up the room, while the Axis makes me want to buy a lamp to supplement it (hard to show the difference in photos, but I’ll try; note the number of blades to differentiate the Axis from the Wynd). That said, my wife prefers the appearance of the 3 blade Axis, saying it looks more modern. Three blades, however, don’t move as much air as 5. We have to operate the Axis at level 4 or 5, to get the same effect as the Wynd at level 3. Here are my likes of this fan: quiet DC motor, sleek appearance, high efficiency, smart controls (I have it set up with Amazon Echo, and it works perfectly), fairly easy installation (if you know how to do basic electrical wiring), and bundled RF wall switch. Dislikes: light not as bright as I’d like, wall switch not illuminated (hard to see what to press in the dark), not as effective at moving air as the Wynd (but not bad at higher speeds).Still a decent fan, but I’m buying more Wynd units to replace the rest of our old fans.

Ceiling fan looks modern and the smart connectivity is what made me decide to go with this brand over others (can control it via Samsung Smart Things). However, Modern Forms recently decided to remove the wall control they used to include in favor of a remote to control the ceiling fan. You can buy the wall control separately for an additional $50. This means that your existing cieling fan/light switch basically becomes a redudant kill switch unless you pay the extra money for the wall control. At $350 for the fan, I feel like we should be given the option of whether we want to get the remote or the wall control instead of having us pay extra for the one we want. Remotes get lost, requires battery replacement, is not modern looking, makes your existing wall control redudant (has to be on the on position in order for the remote to work), and makes the whole installation look very tacky.I reached out Modern Form customer service to see if they would be willing to provide a exchange and they literally told me there was nothing they can do and for me to just buy the wall control separately. That’s the kind of customer service you get after shelling out over $350. Wow.

The breeze mode is a huge deal. It acts like a natural breeze and puts me to sleep. Turning on breeze mode is only available in the smartphone app. I really recommend getting the in-wall remote as well. Not hard to install, but more complicated than lesser fans.
