    The media could not be loaded.

     My little home office room needed a ceiling fan, especially during the hot season. But the ceiling is only eight feet high and that rules out the typical ceiling fans sold in most home improvement stores.Then I discovered this POWROL Ceiling Fan and it looked perfect for my room. It has a small fan, about 12 inches wide, that sits inside two rings of LED lights. What’s more, the fan drops only six inches down from the ceiling surface, putting it safe above the head of everyone, including my 6-foot-2 son in law.The fan assembly was no more difficult to install than a typical light fixture. It comes with a metal bracket that screws into a standard square fixture box. It also has a safety cable that clips to the bracket to hold the fan base while you connect positive, negative and ground wires. The whole process, from removing the original light fixture to connecting the fan took about a half an hour.One minor hiccup that I didn’t expect is that the fan doesn’t work if there’s a dimmer on the wall switch that it’s connected to. At least the installation guide says “DO NOT use any dimmer switch.” There’s a dimmer function built into the fan light so I guess dueling dimmers is not a good idea. I like the range of brightness options that the two ring lights provided. They delivered all the illumination that I needed for my 12-by-12-foot room and almost as much as I got from the three-bulb fixture that I replaced.Once the fan and light in installed, you will have two ways to control it (when the wall switch is in the ON position). First is a remote control that you pair with the ceiling fan. It lets you turn the fan and light rings on and off, adjust the light shade and brightness and change the fan speed and rotation direction.Most of the same functions can also be controlled using a an app called FanLamp Pro that can be downloaded from the Apple or Android app stores. I suppose that’s handy for the times when you’re in your comfort chair and the remote is somewhere across the room but, of course, your mobile phone is always at your fingertips.Only two things about the POWROL Ceiling Fan disappointed me. One, I don’t care for the copper-color ball at the center of the fan that occasionally lights up. Seems superfluous. And second if you’re going to offer app control, why not include voice control with Alexa, Siri or Google? Otherwise, this light and fan combo is exactly what I wanted for my office ceiling.

    Finally able to install this fan/light. It was amazingly easy to install. Came assembled with remote. Wall switch used for light and remote for fan. Unit has 3 various colored light settings to choose from. Fan has various speed settings. Perfect for the small porch I’ve installed it on as the porch has no air conditioning, the fan gives out a nice amount of airflow to make it comfortable in the summer. Nice light/fan. Quite thrilled with it, would highly recommend.
