Not sure why for the price, Minka still has a bulky, outdated remote, battery, and a physical button to change fan directions. It’s as easy to install as any fan, but the instructions are a joke for a new DIYer. Rubber gasket for wet locations does not stay on for the receiver to slide through bracket. Other companies are doing all of this better for a lower price with great quality. We stuck with this after install because it is a good, quiet fan. Will avoid Minka fans in the future.

  2. Roe Walker

The fan is high quality and easy to assemble. The remote was easy to configure. I contacted the company about a small issue with my shipment. They responded promptly and I had the new part within days. The fan is installed outside on a covered porch and is quietly moving air at all three speeds.

I don’t write many reviews but I wanted to warn about the problems with installation for fans that use a remote or if installing more than one fan in an area. The only problem I have with the fan itself is that in order to reverse the direction, you have to get on a ladder to push a switch. This seems like it would be simple to correct, especially with a redesign of the remote. In order to use the remote, a module must be placed in either the fan hood or in the electrical box. The problem is that the module is 4″x5″x1.25″. It’s too big to fit in the fan hood and is too big to fit above the hanging ball unless the electrical box is extra large. In addition, if there are two or more fans in the same area (we have three on our patio), in order to program the remotes so that each fan has it’s own remote, the electricity must be on for the fan you are trying to program and off for any others. That means unless each fan also has its own switch, you must get on a ladder and disconnect the electricity to the fans not being programmed. This is just really poor engineering.

The receiver do not easy fit into the given space. My installation it did not fit at all and the electrician had to make another plan. The fan scratch real easy. The installation manual is clear and the fan is beautiful. The interface designers worked hard whilst engineering took the day off. If you an expert buy this fan, otherwise look for another.

  5. Joan Macy

Exceptional value, lovely sleek design. I have the same fan at home and LOVE it. Was easy to install. My son installed it. We needed a fan at the cabin to circulate heat. Rooms were drafty, room heaters on constantly. Now with the fan, temperatures are consistent throughout the rooms. This is the second one I purchased… the first fan from a retailer, which was at a higher price. But Amazon, of course, is the greatest for pricing! Remote makes it easy to change speeds. A switch on the fan allows changing the blade direction from summer to winter setting. Highly recommended!

Purchased two of these fans for a covered patio – primarily for their contemporary look, the lack of a light kit we didn’t need, the airflow rating and the price. We’re very happy with all aspects of them. This fan is a true “outdoor” fan as it does have the extra seals to ensure water stays out of the wiring and fan motor. Fan comes with matching 3.5″ and 6″ matching downrods. Assembly was just a tad easier than other fans since there are only 3 blades, and neither of the two we purchased required any balancing. The wireless remote was a nice included accessory, but isn’t required if you’d rather use a wall switch speed control unlike some of the other fans on the market.Airflow of this fan is 5450 CFM suing 58 watts making it’s airflow efficiency 94.97 CFM/watt. There is a 1 year manufacturer’s (defect) warranty and the motor itself has a lifetime warranty (excludes the wall controls and electrical components).

Very nice fan but it rattles constantly. We purchased 2 of these for our outdoor patio (new construction). In addition, we have purchased 4 more Minke-Aire fans for the entire house and every single one of them rattles. I called customer support who indicated that these are all electrical related and they must be returned – UNACCEPTABLE!!! The fans are extremely stylish but expensive but not worth the money when they all rattle. I tried explaining to customer support at M-A that it sounded like the housing was rattling against the motorized unit. I suspect no matter what I told him, the stock answer would be “it’s electrical and needs to be replaced”. These are brand new fans which cost in excess of $2300 total. If you’re going for looks alone, these are great fans. However, be prepared to deal with the noise they emit.

This seems to be a well built fan overall. Installation was not very difficult considering you are hanging a ceiling fan up on a ladder with only two hand. One thing to note is that the fan blades themselves are plastic, probably for safety and cost reasons, not metal. The fan operates with nearly no noise whatsoever but moves air very well. I do wish you could revers the direction of the rotation via the remote but you cannot. There is a switch on the upper part of the fan body to do so. I have high ceilings so it is a bit of an inconvenience to change with the seasons. Remote works great otherwise and I am very happy with fan. I installed this on the interior but it is rated for outdoor use.
