   Connecting Alexa directly to Modern forms app is impossible. It took me days of retrying before I finally stumble on a solution. l connected my Smart things app which had the Modernforms device and others connected to it to Alexa. Confusing? Absolutely. Only then was I able to use Alexa to control the fan and even that was disappointing. You can turn the fan on and off, adjust the speed, but cannot turn on the light. You still need the remote. SMH. Very disappointing. They should have just added voice control to their own app which isn’t that bad. On the plus side, the fan is beautiful, silent, and comes with a nice remote. The wall switch which is sold separately is also very nice.

   I love the look of the fan and the smart integration, but I have a couple small complaints. The installation manual is basic and can be difficult and some of the things seem to be out of order in the manual and conflict with the instructional video. Also the screws for the housing cover could be better placed as the fan is in the way to get to them with a standard screwdriver and you have to push the fan out of the way, which leads to my next issue. Most ceiling fans, housing and blades, are static once installed and leave balancing pretty simple and straightforward. However, this unit is not that way. The entire fixture moves freely by hand even after the connecting rod is set securely in the notch. The leaves making the unit level and the blades even to be a challenge. I’ve tried measuring from the ceiling to the each blade, but as soon as you do this, it changes the other blades as well, making it difficult to get everything perfectly aligned and level. This creates an issue resulting in clicking coming from the fan at higher speeds. I’ve ordered some balancing weights and hope this will help alleviate the issue. I love the integration with Alexa though and the ability to easily set schedules and change the seasonal direction without having to manually do it by a switch on the unit.

   I installed this in an evening. With the included downrod, I had way more wire than I could fit into the housing, so I cut most of it off. Had some issues connecting it with Alexa, but she responds well now, and the remote lives in a drawer.Put the light kit in before you hang it!

   Gorgeous!!! So so glad I discovered this fan! When I first opened the box I blanched a little—the inside color of the plastic blades is orange and next to the orange the woodgrain looked super fake/plasticky. Have faith! When it’s assembled you won’t see the orange and it will look just like the picture.I hired a handyman to install it for me as I was busy moving/unpacking but the directions were fantastic and if you are handy you should have no problem installing it yourself. (Seriously, these may be THE best installation instructions I’ve ever seen, great diagrams and clear language)Do make sure you have a fan junction box in your ceiling to attach it to, that was my primary reason for hiring a handyman as I only had a bare overhead bulb on the porch and assumed it would need some complicated effort to install but I got lucky and didn’t need any electrical modifications.The only thing I would change in hindsight is I wish I had ordered the larger size of this fan—I ordered the 52” but now that it’s up and I can see it’s scale I kind of wish I’d gotten the bigger size.I also plan to contact the manufacturer and ask about how to order a replacement light kit—the LED should last a long time but it’s proprietary (to keep the low profile look) and I’d like to have one in waiting for eventual replacement. I have the fan set on the lowest light setting and a timer so the porch gets a nice soft glow from dusk until dawn. The bluetooth remote is great too, it can attach with a magnet so I hide it on the back of a watering can on my table decor and it’s within reach without a remote laying around to get lost. I didn’t order the extra switch since my porch light is already wired to a switch so I can’t speak to that.Get it, you’ll love it!

   Update 7/14/22: We reached out to modern forms and they sent us a free receiver to fix the fan speed issue. Only requirement was to send back the old receiver. Customer service was quick in assisting us so I’ve updated the star rating to 4 stars.We bought two do these fans to install for our patio. The initial set up for wi-fi and pairing to Alexa was challenging. It kept un-pairing. After some software updates, it is now working consistently. However, one of the two fans we installed runs a lot slower. It runs as if it is on low speed eventhough it’s at maximum speed. We have greased the fan but that did not help.

   Beautiful fan. There are options to use the fan light or place a cap over the light. Modern and good quality! I would recommend to a friend.

   The app keeps losing connection to fans, phone needs to be on same 2.4Ghz wifi network for it to even connect at all. This itself makes it a pain as most new routers are 5Ghz. I had to setup a separate wifi network just for fans. And despite what their customer support claims and their advertising says, it never connects to the cloud.Their Alexa integration is broken as well. It’s basically a dumb fan with a tiny, difficult to use remote. Very overpriced. Get a regular dumb fan for half the price. I have been iterating with their support which is email only for weeks with no resolution yet.

   Very nice fan and mediocre app control that we mostly use.Beware if you want to use mostly remote it is trash and has horrible lag every time you press a button.
