This fan sat for six months, while I waited for an electrician to install it, because I was intimidated by my high ceilings. It officially stumped our electrician, because he could not figure out how to use our 5 foot down rod with it. I finally just did it myself. If you are handy at all, the problem-solving isn’t too complicated. Just follow the advice in these reviews. The company will send you a downrod, if you want one that is 3 feet or shorter, but I wanted a 5 foot. Also, in all of my troubleshooting, I found that Lowes has adapters in their ceiling fan area that would’ve made it even easier. I can’t figure out how to upload a photo of what I found, but it is a Harbor Breeze brand downrod conversion kit, 0197612.

I purchased this fan and installed it about a year ago, and in the last few months it began making a grinding noise. However the noise came and went, and sometimes was very present and other times would disappear for a bit, only to return at a slightly different volume or only there at a different speed.Lately it got really loud and I ordered a replacement and set up scaffolding to work on it (it is mounted to a 24′ high ceiling). When disassembling the fan I found that the two stickers that were previously on the fan motor had come off and were loose inside the fan motor shroud. On a hunch I reassembled the fan and voilà, the noise was gone! Apparently the stickers would occasionally stick together and would rub against the fan motor shroud (the motor spins with the blades) causing the noise, and then would separate and the noise would subside. I did notice that if I reversed the spin then sometimes the noise would stop and other times get worse, so it was puzzling as to why it wasn’t a consistent sound. When disassembled the inside of the shroud had scuff marks on the inside of the shroud, which indicated that something had rubbed against it.Other than this odd defect the fan has worked perfectly, and I don’t have any issues with it at all. Now that the stickers are out it is dead silent again and functions as intended.

When I first operated the fan, it had clicking noises. I reversed the fan rotation and heard more clicking noises. But after changing the controls a few times, the clicking noises went away and the fan seems to operate quietly now.I wish there was a different remote for fans without lights–the light controls take up a big part of the remote and are useless for fans without lights.Overall, a good looking fan at an economical price and it is working well.

I just finished installing this 70 inch fan. It was easy to install. For those interested in a longer down-rod, one can be bought at home depot. I got a 48 inch one for $29.97. They have longer ones too. It is the same diameter as the ones that came with the fan (1 inch OUTSIDE diameter) It has the proper holes in it too, even including the small set screw hole at the top end, in the right location. The bottom end is threaded, so I cut it off and drilled a new hole- I didn’t want it to fit loosely in the motor or Jerry rig it with pipe clamps like another reviewer did. Of course I needed to extend the wires too. Installation was a breeze and its not too heavy so I could manage alone. The remote works fine, noting special. The fan blades are solid light wood. The fan fortunately does not make any beeping noises when controlled. I was able to connect to Smart Life with Wi Fi without much trouble. Just follow the included directions. (hold down the “8 hr” button on remote ’til beeping to start pairing. Also use “WiFi” and not “BLE + WiFi” in the app pairing.) I was certain that I would have to fix wobble, but surprisingly there was minimal wobble even at top speed. I can tell Alexa to turn fan on/off but Alexa cant adjust the speed it seems. So a good purchase. Hopefully it will have longevity.

I bought two fans, the 70″ with light, and the 70″ without light. Install was mostly simple. Quality appears mostly very nice. Sound level at speed 3 or lower is almost dead silent. 4&5 is still quiet, 6 you can hear it, but it isn’t bothersome. It moves lots of air. I don’t see myself using speed 4-6 indoors. I mounted the lighted one in my living room, the non lighted on my covered patio. The only hangup during install, the directions say nothing about where to connect the house wires. (The go into the wiring block attached to the mounting bracket, opposite the pre-installed wiring). The remote is fairly easy to understand and use. It adjusts the fan speed and direction, and (if applicable) the light brightness and color. The fan can be set to a “natural” setting, where it ramps up from one to six, and back again, repeatedly. In my opinion, it ramps up and down too quickly to be a pleasant mode to use. Each fan had a small blemish in one of the blades (pictures). Both blemishes should not affect the function or durability of the blade. Both blemishes are on the top side of the blade, so not visible unless you’re working on it. The blades are real wood. A light wood, byt a heavy wood would require a stronger motor (more power usage). There were no missing parts. After install, the fit & finish looks excellent. One of the fans had the company logo/decal placed poorly at an angle, but it popped right off, so it is not an issue. Connecting to wifi & alexa was seamless, following the directions. Alexa can control the fan speed as well as the light dimming.I would recommend these fans, and I would buy it again, provided their longevity. (I installed one yesterday and one today).*Pro tip: open the box outside, unless you want a blizzard of Styrofoam in your house.
