These are beautiful, sleek outdoors ceiling fans. We purchased 2 for our covered porch and they are exactly what we were expecting! Noise level is very low and hardly noticeable even when set upon the highest setting, as ours is. It moves a ton of air – especially at the highest setting ours is set on- and it helps keeps the mosquitoes away! My husband was able to install them fairly quickly without too much difficulty. He was also able to sync them together to a wall switch so they run simultaneously. However, without wiring them to their individual remotes, we are only able to leave it at the one desired speed – but we completely knew this was the case when we set it up to the wall switch vs. their individual remote controls. We’ve gotten so many compliments on the fans by neighbors walking by our house because they are so pretty. They are a great purchase and we would definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful quiet fan by Minka, a quality company. I love the understated look. I did not put a light kit on it. I don’t understand the reviews stating that the fan makes a lot of noise. Mine is whisper quiet. I had an electrician put it in for me and he said it was quite easy to install. I was actually impressed how fast he had it up since there was no electrical in my ceiling beforehand so he had to pull it through from somewhere else. The only thing I would change is the switch. It is awkward wherein “4” is the slowest speed and “1” is the fastest. Whoever thought that up was in upside down land for the day. It’s stupid. I actually thought the electrician made a mistake until I read it on here that others had it that way too. Other than that, the fan is perfect so far in the few months I’ve had it.

really, really like the look of this fan with recessed lights in my TV room but one irritating thing is that you cannot change the speed of the fan ON the fan. My hope was to set it to the lowest speed and just put a normal black switch (that matched the rest of the room). Instead the fan comes with a ridiculously ugly white variable switch to wire in. I will install something else but oh my lord it the switch the worst looking thing i have ever seen…

I was a little nervous buying this product before any Amazon reviews. I scoured the internet for other reviews and several mentioned that they were disappointed with how loud the fan is. They must have installed it wrong, because the motor of this fan makes basically zero noise. The only noise is the wooooosh of the fan blades and moving air – which is expected from a fan. NOISE: MinimalLOOK: Aesthetics wise it’s a beautiful modern addition to our bedroom. I should have replaced my crappy old fan long ago.INSTALL: The install of the fan itself was fairly simple. It even comes with wire screws to make the wire connections. It does come with a wall switch to control the speed. This was a little more complicated as I was replacing two three-way switches with this single switch. However, if you’re replacing a simple single control switch then this is pretty straightforward. The only drawback of the switch is the depth of the box, so make sure your wall box has room to handle the depth of the switch.BOTTOM LINE: I bought a 2nd one for my guest bedroom!

Makes noise but nothing crazy crazy

Nice looking fan. Moderate hum. The removal of one star is for the wall switch. It’s very clunky, the slider doesn’t move easily. And 1 is the highest? Weird.

I love the look of this fan, so I purchased two. They were both professionally installed. One fan makes too much sound, in my opinion. It’s not just the whooshing of air, it’s a mechanical sound. I have a fan in a different room from a different manufacturer that is completely silent, so I guess I just expected the Minka Aire Roto to be the same. Disappointed. The second fan’s directional switch wasn’t functioning, it only spun in the “hot air” direction- not great for summer. So I contacted the seller who told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a new switch. We had it professionally installed, with no luck, and then the fan stopped working all together. I contacted Amazon and they said what I thought they might – I’m outside of my return window. I’m currently waiting on Minka Aire technical support to see if they will replace the entire fan. Really disappointed this fan.
