I tried two different ones from big box stores and both were way too slow even on the highest setting. This one is WAY better. The light accessory exceeded my expectations and in fact is more than adequate to light a 14 x 14 room. I suppose it would be nice if it was dimmable but that wasn’t a requirement for me as I have other table lamps in the room if I need milder light . It’s also a fairly quiet fan and actually creates a nice smooth white ambient noise for sleeping. I love it. My only real complaint is that the assembly is just as difficult as many have suggested. I’m a licensed electrician and I’ve installed many fans in my career but this one just has a bad and tricky installation design even if you follow the directions exactly. Specifically challenging is the canopy mounting which will require trial and error to adjust the screws to the proper extension. I have zero regret buying this fan and would do it again in an instant.

I’ve installed quite a few ceiling fans in my time. That includes taking them down when moving to a new home. Clearly, that makes sense only for quality fans, especially when you like a particular style that’s hard to find. Where I live now, one of the first things I did when moving in was to remove the cheap ceiling fans and put up two I brought with me. But eventually fans wear out. One I replaced recently conked out because of poor wiring inside it. So one thing I’m even more concerned with now is quality. This fan fits the bill. I saw zero signs of corner-cutting. In fact, there were niceties not common anymore. Thick, one-inch diameter down-rods for one. This fan comes with two. One short, the other long. Nothing about this fan struck me as cheap. No tinny metal or other junk. I was quite pleased.I like old-fashioned styling, but that’s not very popular anymore. This one is sufficiently ornate, although not overly so. The one true complaint I have is the globes. Excuse me for saying this, but imo, they’re bug-ugly! I was able to replace the globes cheaply with some from Lowes, of all places. One significant issue with replacing the globes on this fan is that there are five of them. Globes typically come in sets of three or four. Fortunately, I found globes I liked, sold individually. Around $8 apiece—yay! Not the highest quality, but I think they look nice. (Far better than the original bug-ugly ones, that’s for sure!)One of the best features about this fan is the remote. It’s not fancy, but it does the job. It’s a common model, so replacement controls can be found pretty easily. One part I appreciate is that the circuitry on these shuts off the fan momentarily when switching speeds. You can hear two little clicks; one shutting it off, and the other coming back on. The significance of this design is that it should make the fan last a lot longer.Cheap pull-chain mechanisms are the bane of ceiling fans. The chains break; the mechanisms jam. Etc, etc. The other issue is capacitors wearing out. This didn’t used to be much of a problem, but it is now. Replacement capacitors from China are a total crap-shoot nowadays. There are literally hundreds of them, and you have to buy the exact replacements. Yet even after you get it, you may not have bought what you thought you did. Nowadays, you might as well throw out your whole fan if a capacitor fails. It’s just not worth all the hassle. UGH! This is where the fan turning off when switching speeds comes in. Switching speeds regularly is what wears out the capacitors. In a typical ceiling fan, turning it off is a matter of cycling through the speeds from high to low. That is how most of the failures are caused. If you want to keep your fan many, many years, try to avoid pulling the speed chain. This model of fan doesn’t have that problem, because it doesn’t work that way. No pull-chains. Yay!!!Anyway, I’m quite happy with this fan. My only complaint is a lack of brightness control. I managed to create a WiFi, Smartphone work-around, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone else trying it. I was willing to take a chance, making extreme modifications to a standard wifi dimmer, and fitting it inside the fan housing. It works, but doing so isn’t for the faint of heart! What it does prove is that manufacturers could put WiFi controls in their ceiling fans if they wanted to. Some do now, but not many. And I’m not willing to shell out hundreds of extra dollars for that one added feature.

I got this fan, mainly, to replace the one we had that had a loud hum. Electrician said it was the bearings. Was so happy, now, that they come with remote control (some do, as this one does). Electrician installed this one, and ran beautifully, and quiet, for several months. Now, on medium speed there is a hum (bearings?) and on high speed, the hum gets louder. This fan looks really well made, but with trouble with the bearings, I am questioning that. I will call the manufacturer and see what I can do. Uninstalling and reinstalling a new one by an electrician would be too expensive for this 81 year old lady, plus, packing this one up and sending it back. There has to be a good way to replace this fan.. I love it!

I like the design very much But I feel for the amount of money I paid it should have had a little better quality. The trim pieces are very weak made out of a very cheap metal. The fan blades needed to be Balanced. I felt that a fan of this price should have Been made better.

  5. Sandy

Very pretty but have not put it up yet

  6. Amazon Customer

Seems to be a good fan. Really quiet when on low speed, no humming. It was easy to install and looks great. I am very pleased with the fan.

  7. J. Higgs

Good fan and light for the price. 3 light settings and fan speed. A little work, but can install self.

I didn’t look at the other reviews otherwise I would have noticed that the light fixtures are more yellow or orange than the picture shown. I had loved how light it seemed so I was bummed about that. Otherwise it is a beautiful fan that just adds to our home. Will be switching out the light fixture tho bc I don’t love the color it gives now. It really is a great fan tho!! Happy with the purchase in the end 🙂
